A simple yet powerful tool to remove disturbances of the mind. A practice of keeping our eyes stable, outer and inner.
Trataka ,Sanskrit त्राटक Trāṭak: "look, gaze" is a method of Yogic purification/ Shatkarma.
Our breath and emotions are connected, similarly our eye and emotions are connected. When we fix our gaze on a particular object, without moving our body, our mind becomes stable.
A method of meditation that involves staring at a single point . This object can be the flame of a lamp, candle, a deity or a black dot on the wall.
Internal Tratak is to gaze the inner consciousness through the mind with eyes closed.
External Tratak is to gaze at an object with open eyes until tears roll out off the eyes. It’s a practice of keeping our eyes stable, outer and inner.
Sit in any comfortable meditative posture about a meter away from the candle
Keep the candle at eye level
Bring total focus on the flame of the candle with open eyes, without blinking.
This continues until tears roll out of the eyes.
The practitioners of Tratak have often exclaimed that, with time, they develop the ability to experience enhanced focus, intuition, and willpower.
